Japanese Language Proficiency Test
I will be sitting for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 tomorrow. I’m not confident at all because firstly, the scope is very wide; secondly, I did not really study since I don’t know what I should study; thirdly, only 27% of non-Japanese examinees passed the test last year… Sigh, I wish myself good luck!
明日私は日本語能力試験・二級を受ける。範囲が広いし、何を勉強するが必要かわからないのであまり勉強したし、去年日本人じゃない受験者は２７パーセントだけ合格したから、自信が全然ない…。はあ～頑張ります！

Japanese Language Proficiency Test
Went to apply for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) today!
It’s very expensive. $2 for Application form + $45 for the test + $3 for 2 passport-size photos = $50. I signed up for Level 2 (which is the second hardest paper), and I will be taking the test in December.
I seriously hope I will pass it (passing score is 60%) so that I won’t waste my $50.
日本語能力試験に申し込んで行った！
それはとても高い。願書は２ドルで、試験は４５ドルで、パスポートのサイズの写真は二枚３ドルで、合計は５０ドルだ。二級の試験にサインアップして、十二月に試験を取る。
５０ドルは無駄になりたくないので、本当に合格したい（合格のパーセントは６０％だ）。

Rare Encounter 稀有な出会い
Quite honoured today to have VIPs from Japan visiting our Japanese lesson at MOELC. They were Wife of Foreigner Minister of Japan and Wife of Ambassador of Japan to Singapore. But they only stayed in our class for around 10 minutes… :(
今日、語学センターで日本語の授業に日本からの賓客がいらっしゃって光栄でした。彼らは日本外務大臣令夫人と駐シンガポール日本大使令夫人でございました。でも、教室に十分ぐらいだけいらっしゃってしまいました…。

Got into Semi-Finals of Japanese Speech Contest! 日本語のスピーチコンテストのセミファイナルに入った！
So happy! Found out at about 9.30 pm that I got into semi-finals of the Japanese Speech Contest! And so did 3 of my classmates. Yay!
うれしい！9時半ごろに日本語のスピーチコンテストのセミファイナルに入ったことを見出した！クラスメートも三人入った。いぇい！

About Japanese 日本語について
Sigh. Japanese is getting very difficult. I have been persevering since Sec 1; a lot of my friends have quit 3rd language, but well, I’m still studying. And I take pride in learning Japanese because I love the language.
But, today’s Japanese CA2 was a killer. It was the toughest Japanese paper I have ever sat for. Zzz. I know I have lost a lot of marks already. Not in the best of mood. T_T
残念だ。日本語はとても難しくなっている。一年生から日本語に我慢してる；友達はたくさん第三言語をやめたけど、私はまだ勉強している。そして、日本語が好きなので、日本語の勉強をして大得意だ。
でも、今日の日本語CA2は僕を殺した。僕が受けたテストで一番大変だ。はあ…点がたくさんなくなったのを知ってる。よくない気持ちを持ってる。

Script for Japanese Speech Contest, Done! 日本語のスピーチコンテストのスクリプトは、してしまった!
After much procrastination, I have finally done the script for Japanese Speech Contest. Including punctuations, I typed 899 characters, which last around 4 minutes. The topic is “Generation Gap between Parents and Children”. I’ve submitted to my teacher for her to check through, hope it’s alright!
よくぐずぐずしたら、私はとうとう日本語のスピーチコンテストのスクリプトをしてしまった！句読を入れて、８９９字をタイプした。全部４分かがる。主題は「両親と児女間のギャップ」だ。スクリプトを先生に出してチェックされて、がんばります！

“Chinese Language Challenge” Controversy 《华文智多星》起争议
An article in Lianhe Wanbao (17/4/08) criticises the Chinese Language Challenge 华文智多星 for allowing China students to dominate the competition. Schools are labelled with “kiasu” and the language ability of local students are questioned; are local students not able to reach the language standards of China students?
