What’s so scary about a videocam?
June 4, 2008
There is this SS Social Documentary that all Sec 4s have to produce. My group has 4 people. 1 person is currently overseas.
Today, we decided to go to Junction 8 to interview people and film the interviews down. 1 person had a fever, so left 2 of us, Justin and me.
We wasted a lot of time at the start because we didn’t dare to approach people and interview them. But after that, we got the hang of it and we did quite a couple of interviews.
However, we could have done more! That’s because a lot of people rejected our request ’cause they didn’t want themselves to be videoed. What’s so scary about a videocam? We clarified that the video will not be uploaded to Youtube and will only be used for school purposes, but still, they don’t want to help out. A few others were quite unfriendly. They just dao-ed (ignored).
We spent 1 hour, and we only took 10 to 15 mins long of interviews. Zzz. We could have continued, but Justin’s videocam ran out of battery, so we shall continue tomorrow.
Hope that tomorrow He Shi’s fever will subside so that he can be there to boost our courage, and also that people will be friendlier and less scared of getting filmed.
